This section of the Broad River runs along mostly undeveloped land and offers a very scenic paddle. Broad River originates in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is a major tributary of the Congaree River. Some of the features of this paddling adventure include Mud and McGowan islands, the Irene Bridge and pristine natural landscapes, wildlife and flora. Trees that line the banks of the river include a variety of oak species, riverbirch and more. Fishing is also good, with a couple different bass species and catfish.
